He was born in Fukuoka. He learned at “ecole Tsuji Tokyo” after graduated from the high school, through Shibuya “LE VINCENNES”, and went to France at 28 years old. After having repeated study in French each place, in 2002, he opened the French Restaurant “Kei’s Passion” in Nice at 25 years old. The originality cuisine that he made use of the materials of Southern France was popular, and acquired the one Michelin star at 28 years old in 2006. The same year, he changed a store’s name to “KEISUKE MATSUSHIMA”, expanded and opened it. He acquired the star repeatedly after that. He opened “Restaurant-I” which featured the theme of locally-grown and locally-consumed at Jingumae in June, 2009. In July, 2014, that store changed a store name to “KEISUKE MATSUSHIMA” that same as Nice store. And, he was awarded “The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” which was the first time as a Japanese chef by French Government.
