He was born in Zama-shi, Kanagawa. He was brought up in Camp Zama, went to school in the base. After graduated from the high school, he went to the United States to enter cooking school “The Culinary Institute of America” (CIA) of United States No. 1 in New York. After he learned cooking for 2 years, he worked a French restaurant in L.A. for 2 and half years. In 1988, he opened “Roy’s” first store in Hawaii at the 32 years old. It became the popular restaurant which attracted attention in the United States. At the present, there are 29 stores in the United States, 1 store at Roppongi Hills in Japan. The sensitive dish which the prize for authoritative cooking “JAMES BEARD award” won that make attract gourmets of the world.
